An educational trip to post office was organised for grade 1 on 14th December 2023 to enhance their learning experience on the ongoing EVS topic ‘ My neighbourhood – people who help us’. The visit to the Post office gave a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of postmaster and postman. The postmaster explained to the students how letters were collected and delivered to their destinations. The students also posted cards in postbox which was totally a new experience for them. The field trip was an enjoyable and informative experience for the children as most of them were seeing the post office for the first time.

The event encompassed various categories, including boys under 12, 16, and 19, as well as girls under 19. Excelsior bagged the trophies in the under-16 boys’ category and the under-19 girls’ category. Jake Chackochi and Lisa Liju Kurian were honored with the Best Player Awards for their outstanding performances in the respective categories.

Grade XI Business Studies and Accountancy students visited Mark Tubes, a steel manufacturing unit located at Chozhiyakadu , Kottayam, as a part of their project work on 15112023.
It offered a deep dive into modern technology used in manufacturing steel tubes and pipes. It was an experiential as well as educational field visit for Commerce students as the management gave an in-depth knowledge regarding the manufacturing process.They elaborated every minute step involved in the process.Conversations with the staff highlighted the importance of coordination, teamwork and skill development.

On behalf of excelsior and Pathfinders, Ms. Ahalya a dietician, sports nutritionist and prof. pastry chef was invited to share her thoughtful insights in the topic. Home science, Fashion studies and psychology students of grades 11& 12 Visited Exhibition- Sparkles of Joy held at Aithousa Covention Centre , SH mount Kottayam.
It was an experiential as well as educational trip for psychology students. They learnt how to understand the psychology of customers and push sales. How prior knowledge of customers helps to boost sales,etc

The visit included school visits, classroom observations, workshops by Finnish Education experts, professors and practicing school leaders. This great learning experience was carried home & shared with the teachers of Excelsior English School. Discussions took place about the aspects that could be inculcated in our school teaching learning system.

The Home science and Fashion studies students of Excelsior visited the exhibition under The Crafters umbrella titled ‘CELEBRATIONS’ on 21st July, held at the Benjamin Bailey Hall, Kottayam. ‘Celebrations’ was an exhibition of designer clothing, hand made jewellery, home decor, organic cosmetics and also gourmet food. The Home Science & Fashion studies students visited and experienced the vivid entrepreneurial activities. The aim of the visit was to mainly spark ideas for a career in Home Science and Fashion Studies.
Our Alumna Ms. Elizabeth Ann Thomas batch of 2016 visited our school. She majored in Economics and Sociology from St.Xavier’s college , Mumbai. She spoke to the Senior Secondary students about her career path and options open after +2 graduation. She reiterated that one needs to research and be self driven to reach a goal. She interacted with our students and was able to help them with procedures for further study.
Excelsior celebrated Doctors Day by honouring three doctor parents of the school. Prep I & II had Dr .Aby J Mathew MDS as their guest.He spoke to them about oral hygiene and teeth brushing techniques. Dr.Reshmi George , Anesthesiologist was honoured by the students of Grade I. The session focussed on promoting healthy lifestyle among children. Dr Nidhish Moulana BDS MPH had a fun filled and informative session on dental hygiene with the students of Gr II.
An Interactive session with Mr Vinay Mathew, Director, Accenture Technology, Chicago was conducted for the senior secondary students of the school. He spoke about the scope of pursuing a career in the field of Information Technology. The school was privileged to have this session with Mr Mathew who has been in the industry for more than two decades. He made it clear to the students that studying Computer Engineering was not the only step towards becoming part of the IT industry. He specified the importance of the marketing, data analysis, hardware engineering etc. job portfolios in the industry and suggested what one must study to reach the various destinations.
A VALUABLE SESSION WITH REBECCA KERR Rebecca Kerr – Vice President & General Manager, N.America Women’s business @ Nike was our guest today. A multifaceted dynamic personality who strongly believes in living her dream. She spoke with passion about the work entrusted to her and the challenges that come with it. She encouraged the students to move out of their comfort zone and make use of the opportunities that surround them.
Excelsior English School commemorated the World Asteroid Day at school today. This day marks the anniversary of the Tunguska catastrophe , a large asteroid impact that happened in Siberia in 1908, and aims to raise awareness about the potential threat of asteroids to our planet and promote their study and exploration. We conducted a session on the topic Asteriods – Facts and Fictions for the Senior Secondary students. The session was handled by Dr. Benno Joseph (H. O. D. of Geology, Kristu Jyoti College of Technology and Management ) We also had an exclusive online interview with Mr. Vishnu Mohan T (Scientist at BARC) Let’s celebrate the World Asteroid Day and appreciate the wonders and challenges of our cosmic neighborhood.
June 26 is observed as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Grade XB conducted an assembly on the need to spread awareness about the disastrous consequences of drug abuse & the imperative need to check its tentacles in society. The theme for 2023 is People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention.” The need for a people centered approach for antidrug policies with a focus on human rights, compassion & evidence based practices is evident. The main aim is to treat with empathy those caught in this vicious net, prioritising prevention & being nonjudgmental. A pledge against drug abuse was taken by the students during the assembly.
Reading Day June 19 celebrated as Reading day is taken up as Reading Challenge @ Excelsior. It starts from June 19 & goes on to July 18. A group of enthusiastic 9th graders took on the responsibility of conducting numerous activities throughout the month. The staff & students as well as admin staff across the school spent 40 mins on June 19 reading a book of their choice. Grades X & VII conducted their class assembly based on the importance of reading, synopsis of famous books & familiarized the students with some important quotes on the magic of reading.
Yoga Day YogDiwas was observed on June 21st. An assembly was conducted where students performed various asanas. Posters across the school symbolised the importance of yoga. The teachers too participated in a 30 min chair yoga programme. The theme for yoga day 2023 ‘One World – One Family’ (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam) emphasized the spirit of yoga which unites & takes everyone together.
Cooking practicals in H.Sc labs play a vital role in nurturing culinary skills, fostering creativity, and promoting nutritional awareness among students. These hands-on experiences not only equip students with practical cooking skills but also instill a passion for good food and healthy eating habits.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR PREP 1&2 7 June 2023 marked the Commencement Day for the students of Prep I & Prep II. The new batch of preschoolers enjoyed their first day at school which was specially curated for them by their class teachers. Our friendly bunny was there to welcome them. Day – 1 Happy World Environment Day everyone! 🌍🌱 Excelsior English School is celebrating a week long session for World Environment Day. On day 1 various activities were conducted to raise awareness on the importance of taking care of our planet. We had an informative and thought-provoking assembly, where students of grade XII informed through poems, speeches and activities the impact of plastic pollution and the ways in which we can reduce, reuse and recycle plastics. 🌿🌞 We are so proud to announce that our school held a tree planting activity! DAY 2 – SEED BOMBING An activity called seed bombing was scheduled for day 2 of the Environment Day activities. The importance of green spaces and how we can contribute to making our environment more sustainable was highlighted. We received seed bombs made by our students and threw them in the garden area of our school. We encourage everyone to try seed bombing, it’s a simple way to make a big impact on our planet.
