SMART BRAINS – SMART MINDS – An interactive session was held by Dr. Varghese P. Punnose, Principal and Professor of Psychiatry of Government Medical College Kottayam on “SMART BRAINS – SMART MINDS,” focusing on brain development, mental well-being, and strategies for academic success. The session covered topics such as promoting healthy brain development, managing stress and anxiety, and building positive relationships. Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, Dr. Punnose empowered students with practical tips and insights to enhance their cognitive abilities and emotional intelligence. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing students to clarify their doubts and share their thoughts.

Entrepreneurship Learning By Doing Activity ( XII) Marshmallow and Noodle Stick Activity Objective To encourage teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and communication this fun activity can be performed in the class Materials Required (per team) 1 packet of uncooked noodle sticks (spaghetti works best) 1 packet of marshmallow Stopwatch/timer Measuring scale (to check the tallest structure) Instructions 1. Form Teams – Divide the class into two small groups of 4 students. 2. Distribute Materials – Each team gets the same number of noodle sticks and few marshmallow – as per teacher calculation . 3. Explain Rules: Build the tallest free-standing structure possible within the time limit. The marshmallow should be used to stick the noodles stick. No external support (walls, tables, or holding with hands) is allowed. Only given materials can be used. 4. Set Time Limit – Usually 15–20 minutes is enough. 5. Start Building– Teams brainstorm, plan, and construct their towers. 6. Judge the Structures – At the end of the time, measure each tower. 7. Declare Winner – The tallest stable structure with the marshmallow on top wins. 8. Reward – The winning team gets to eat the marshmallow (or you may give marshmallows to everyone as a fun closure). Educational Visit – As part of the project work in Business studies based on the topic Principles of management , Grade XII Comerce students on 27th August visited ‘Chandrans Steel Factory’ in Coimbatore. Chandran steel factory is a leading kitchen equipment manufacturer that offers custom stainless steel to hotels and restaurants. We collected information on applicability of Principles of management through the questionnaire. Also we could observe the high tech machines and the processes undergone in producing steel products. We learned how raw materials are handled, processed and turned into finished goods. This gave us a clear understanding of industrial safety measures and large scale production techniques. On the second day,28th August we visited ‘NC John Garments Pvt Ltd’ Thirupur where we gained insights into the textile industry. We saw how fabric goes through different stages such as cutting,stitching,designing and quality checking before becoming finished garments ready for export. This helped us understand the importance of precision, creativity and quality standards in the textile sector. From this industrial visit we learned better understanding of by machinery, production techniques and safety practices,linking theoretical concepts with real world applications .

We are exceedingly proud to announce that our student short film “PAPER SKIES”—written, directed, shot, and edited entirely by our talented students—has won the “Special Jury Mention” along with a cash prize of ₹5000/- at the Short Film Competition 2025 organized by TALKS India. The competition was based on the theme “Responsible Society: It Starts With Me. The cast and crew of Paper Skies includes students of Grades 11 and 12 from the Political Science Department, along with Leonel Roobesh from Grade 2. Congratulations for this remarkable achievement!

JUNIOR SCHOOL ONAM CELEBRATIONS – 2025 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 26 ന് ജൂനിയർ സ്കൂൾ ഓണാഘോഷം പൂർണ്ണ ഊർജ്ജസ്വലതയോടെയും വർണ്ണാഭമായും നടന്നു. ജോയ്ഫുൾ ബിഗിനേഴ്‌സ് മുതൽ ഗ്രേഡ് IV വരെയുള്ള വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഓണത്തിന്റെ സന്തോഷം പങ്ക് വയ്ക്കുന്ന വൈവിധ്യമാർന്ന പരിപാടികൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. കുട്ടികൾ ഉത്സാഹത്തോടെ ഓണം ആഘോഷിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ഉജ്ജ്വലമായ ഗാനങ്ങൾ, ചടുലനൃത്തങ്ങൾ, ഓണത്തിൻ്റെ തനിമ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന തിരുവാതിര,വഞ്ചിപ്പാട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയവയാൽ ഓണാഘോഷം നിറവാർന്നു.

SENIOR SCHOOL ONAM CELEBRATIONS – Our school came alive with color and cheer as we celebrated Onam through vibrant cultural performances, the joyful visit of Maveli, a traditional Onasadya, and spirited games. Wishing everyone peace, prosperity, and happiness this Onam.

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIP – As a part of an experiential learning initiative, Fashion studies and Home science visited a local antique shop. The shop offered a captivating collection of artifacts, from intricately carved furniture, traditional utensils and age – old decor pieces. The purpose of this visit is to ignite creative thinking and inspire design innovation. Encouraging them to observe and analyze traditional design elements and to develop original motifs and design concepts from the textures, patterns and craftsmanship observed in the antiques

JWALA 2025 – The curtain rose on Jwala – Excelsior English School’s Youth Festival for 2025-26, with a show of culture and creativity. The Chief Guest for the occasion was known Malayalam actor, Shri. P N Sunny, known for his roles in movies such as Spadikam and Joji. Following the lighting of the lamp, the festival was declared open by Director Mr. N J Mathew. The three-day festival was a wonderful celebration of fiery talent and youthful spirit.

“Azadi Ka Utsav” ( Cultural Fiesta) 15th August 2025 Excelsior English School celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with a series of enriching cultural programs designed to instill patriotism and appreciation for our nation’s heritage among students and staff. The celebration was held on August 15, 2025, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the entire school community. The day commenced with a dignified flag hoisting ceremony followed by a solemn rendition of the national anthem by all present. This was a powerful moment of unity and respect for the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Following the flag hoisting, a vibrant cultural program unfolded in the school pavilion showcasing the artistic and patriotic spirit of our students. The cultural programs effectively underscored the school’s commitment to nurturing patriotism and civic values in its students, ensuring that the spirit of freedom and unity resonated throughout the celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day. “Tiranga Tribute” – Patriotic Dress Competition As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Social Science Department organized a Patriotic Dress Competition on August 15, 2025, where students across grades showcased creativity and national pride through vibrant costumes reflecting India’s rich history and culture.

A Resounding Success: Independence Day Quiz Competition “Unleash the Patriot” Today, August 13, 2025, witnessed a thrilling display of knowledge and patriotism as the Independence Day Quiz Competition unfolded, sparking a renewed appreciation for India’s rich history and hard-fought freedom. The event, held by the Social Science Department in anticipation of the 79th Independence Day, successfully engaged participants and spectators alike, creating an atmosphere of vibrant learning and celebration.

Celebrating Freedom through Art: Independence Day Bulletin Board Competition – “Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future” Today, August 13, 2025 the Social Science Department conducted a vibrant Bulletin Board Competition. Classes demonstrated remarkable creativity, transforming simple boards into powerful narratives of India’s journey to freedom and its glorious future. The bulletin boards covered a diverse range of themes, showcasing the depth of participants’ understanding and appreciation for India’s independence. This competition served as an excellent platform for students to delve deeper into India’s history, understand the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, and express their patriotism through a creative outlet.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2025 – From proud salutes to inspiring words — our Investiture Ceremony 2025 was all about leadership, responsibility and stepping up to challenges. The newly elected Student Council leaders stepped into their new roles with style, ready to lead, guide and shine! Proud parents, teachers and mentors – each have played a part in the journey of these young leaders as they spread their wings and soar in their new roles. The Chief Guest for the Investiture was Mr. Joe A. Scaria, a senior journalist with decades of experience including The Economic Times, Chennai. He’s currently the Kerala Correspondent of the Gulf News, Dubai, as well as Faculty member at the Institute of Journalism, Thiruvananthapuram and at the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering Kanjirapally. He is also the author of ‘Fourth Estate to Rubber Estate’ as well as the host of the popular YouTube channel Joe-metric View Our thanks to the Chief Guest Mr. Joe Scaria who offered valuable words of wisdom, that will stay with the students for a long time. AN INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH DR. SHASHI THAROOR – Students of Excelsior English School had a stimulating interaction with Dr. Shashi Tharoor, at the recently held Talks India event at CMS College, Kottayam. Dr. Tharoor spoke about his vision for Kerala’s development, and discussed key themes like retaining talent in Kerala, and empowering youth to be agents of change. The extended Q&A session was an empowering opportunity for our students to ask questions, reflect, and have a thoughtful exchange of ideas about Kerala’s young citizens, with the MP.

Educational Visit to Jaipur – Students from the departments of Fashion Studies and Home Science undertook an educational visit to Jaipur, with the aim of gaining firsthand exposure to traditional textile crafts and modern garment production. The visit included stops at Sanganer and Bagru, the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD), and a ready-made garment factory.
The students explored the renowned textile hubs of Sanganer and Bagru, known for their age-old techniques of hand block printing and tie and dye.
The visit proved highly educational and enriching. It bridged classroom learning with practical exposure to both traditional and modern textile techniques. The interaction with artisans, designers, and industry professionals broadened the students’ understanding of the fashion and textile landscape in India.

“Changathikku Oru Maram” – Nurturing Friendship and Nature at Excelsior English School Grade 6 students of Excelsior English School recently hosted a thoughtful and eco-friendly event titled “Changathikku Oru Maram” (A Tree for a Friend), celebrating the bond of friendship through a green initiative. As part of the program, students gifted saplings to their friends—symbolizing not only the growth of their friendship but also a shared responsibility toward a greener future. The school campus was filled with enthusiasm as students planted trees, exchanged saplings, and pledged to care for their plants together. The event was honoured by the presence of Sri. M. P. Santhosh Kumar, former Municipal Chairman of Kottayam Municipality.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP XI Students Learning By Doing Activity. Practical Application of Entrepreneurship Concepts: To promote experiential learning, Class XI Entrepreneurship students are participating in a hands-on activity focused on product development. As part of this initiative, students are creating model boxes for their own products, naming them, and introducing innovative business ideas. This activity aims to develop their creativity, marketing sense, and entrepreneurial thinking by simulating a real-world product launch scenario.

National Doctor’s Day, July 1, 2025 The theme for this year’s National Doctor’s Day is “Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healers?” This theme highlights the often-overlooked mental and emotional struggles faced by doctors and healthcare professionals. On this occasion, our students of Excelsior English School created heartfelt videos, posters and visuals to thank the doctors who heal with care, courage, and compassion. We also extend our grateful thanks to the incredible doctors out there who continue to heal others, even as they silently carry their struggles behind the scenes. Let’s all work together to promote a healthier and more supportive healthcare system for everyone.

NATIONAL READING DAY – National Reading Day is celebrated at Excelsior English School on June 19th. The theme for this year is “Reading: Connecting People Across Generations in Society.” It emphasizes the importance of reading as a means to bridge generational gaps and foster a stronger sense of community through shared literary experiences. Merit Day 2025 was a proud occasion for Excelsior English School, Kottayam — a celebration of excellence, perseverance, and determination. The event honoured the outstanding academic achievements and exceptional talents of our students, whose dedication and hard work shone brightly in the SSE and SSCE Examinations of 2025. It was a day to applaud not just results, but the journey, effort, and spirit that made success possible. JUNE 5:World Environment Day 2025 The focus is on “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally” with the campaign # BeatPlasticPollution This theme emphasizes the need for global commitment to reduce, redesign, reuse, and recycle plastic to protect ecosystems, human health, and future generations. The Republic of Korea will host the global celebrations in Jeju Province, which has declared a vision to become free of plastic pollution by 2040. By focusing on ending plastic pollution, World Environment Day 2025 aims to drive momentum for sustainable practices and reinforce global commitment to protecting the environment .

On May 26th and 27th the school organised a two day transformative experiential learning workshop for Teachers in the school campus. Resorcio a pioneering organization that excels in upskilling and reskilling professionals empowered the teachers on various innovative teaching – learning methodologies and insightful sessions on Student relationship, Stress management , The different phases of learning, Growing and helping grow beyond boundaries etc. The activity packed sessions were thought provoking and enriching providing educators a fresh perspective on the teacher – student dynamics and the teaching learning process.

A three-member team adjudged the school on various parameters including infrastructure, classroom cleanliness and waste-management systems. The award is the result of the Mr. Mindfulness campaign initiated in the school to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. Excelsior school students organized a heartfelt thanks giving assembly and farewell to their beloved Principal, Ms. Shirin Chandy. The event was filled with gratitude, fond memories, and warm wishes as students expressed their appreciation for her inspiring leadership and unwavering dedication. Through speeches, performances, and heartfelt messages, they celebrated her contributions and impact on the school community. Ms. Shirin Chandy’s guidance and kindness will be deeply missed, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Trailblazing Leadership: Kiran Bedi Friday, 14 March 2025 | GREAT HALL, CMS College, Kottayam. Dr. Kiran Bedi, a pioneering leader, delivered an insightful talk on “Police, Public, and Policy: My Lessons in Leadership and Nation-Building” as part of the Benjamin Bailey Memorial Lecture. This annual lecture celebrates the enduring legacy of Rev. Benjamin Bailey, a pioneering missionary and educator in Kerala who championed liberal education and critical thinking. Dr. Bedi shared her experiences in police reforms, prison rehabilitation, and civic engagement, exemplifying the transformative power of integrity, dedication, and visionary leadership. She also reflected on her journey—from excelling in tennis to making history as the first female IPS officer, breaking barriers and paving the way for women in law enforcement. An open discussion made the session highly interactive, allowing aspiring students to engage directly with Dr. Bedi. Overall, the event was engaging, inspiring, and insightful.

The day’s itinerary included Yoga sessions, group and solo Keyboard performances, Digital Painting video presentations, Classical Dance showcases, and an inspiring address by the Principal, Ms. Shirin Chandy. Additionally, students engaged in Abacus demonstrations, energetic Zumba routines, Chess activities accompanied by speeches and prize distributions, Karate exhibitions, and received insightful remarks from Rosey Ma’am. The event also featured Roller Skating in the basketball court and culminated with a Fine Arts/Pencil Drawing exhibition, highlighting the students’ creative talents.

Science Week Celebration: As part of the National Science Week celebrations, the Department of Science hosted ‘Genius Gala – 2025,’ which was inaugurated by Er. N. J. Mathew, Director of Excelsior English School. A week-long celebration of Science Day “The Genius Gala” from February 24th to 28th 2025 focusing on the theme “ science for sustainable development, promoting green technologies” featured engaging activities and exploration, inspiring young minds to embrace the wonders of science.

DENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME – 14 February 2025. As part of an initiative by the Council on Dental Health, Excelsior hosted a dental awareness program last Friday. Dr. Geeve, Dr. Rahul, Dr. Kartik, and Dr. Priya headed the programme. The main theme of this awareness was titled ‘Crush to Brush.’ They spoke to the students of middle school on the importance of oral hygiene. It was an interactive session & quite a few myths about dental hygiene were cleared.

Screenshot (53) — Drama - A psychology play was conducted on 20th January 2025 by the Psychology department of Excelsior English School.The play was based on the life of Adolf Hitler, a notorious man who was the leader of the Nazi party, who had envisioned dominating the entire world based on his self centred beliefs. Hitler's ability to manipulate and rally the masses contribute to what we call a Narcissistic personality disorder. The cast brought the story to life with remarkable performances by fellow students of Psychology.

Goonj is an Indian non-governmental organization (NGO) that creatively recycles urban waste into resources for rural communities. As an initiative of the Student Council, an interactive session was taken in our school by the Goonj Organisation for grades 7 and 8, which dealt with the working of Goonj and how they distribute the kits to people in need in a dignified manner. Following this, a collection drive took place in our school on the 1st Friday of January (3/1/25) wherein, many items such as clothes, books, stationery and bags were collected from the students and were handed over to Goonj.

Celebrating Computer Science Week: Unleashing Creativity and Promoting Digital Responsibility. The Computer Science Department has organized Digital Painting and PPT competitions to mark Computer Science Week. The aim was to showcase the artistic and technical talents of our students. These events will not only provide a platform for students to express their creativity but also encourage them to think critically and develop their problem-solving skills. In addition to these competitions, our dedicated Computer Science teachers have made a special effort to raise awareness about internet usage and ethics. Through interactive sessions and discussions, students have been educated on the importance of online safety, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use. Throughout the month of January, various class-level competitions will continue. As we look forward to the next Youth Festival, we are confident that these events will help us discover and nurture the hidden talents among our students.

Under the auspices of the Mathematics department a Talk on the theme " Way to Maths Balance" was organised for students of Grades VI to IX on November 21st, 2024 . The Speaker for the session was Dr.G.S.Venu, Principal,Harvest Public School , Malapuram who is a passionate Maths enthusiast,with a post graduation in Meteorology, and a Doctorate in Naturopathy and Yoga Science. It was an interactive session where the Speaker kept the students engaged with thought provoking questions.Through anecdotes he pointed the need for Self discipline, Determination to not give up easily, and Reading habit as a few basic ingredients for Growth. Through examples from Maths textbooks, he made the students realise the continuity of the concepts as they move grades and the importance of learning Mathematics for its wide application in real life.

SMILE 2K24 – SMILE is Excelsior’s Annual Day programme. Across the school all the students from grades 1-12 participate on the theme chosen. This year it was the soundtrack of our lives. Students showcased statewise songs & dances. Some classes upheld the legacy that musical legends had left behind. The Annual Day was celebrated on Nov. 14th for the Junior section & the Chief Guest was Mr. Sajju C. Mathew, Sr. Coordinating Editor, Children’s Division, M M Publications. Prof. Dr. C. T. Aravindakumar (Vice chancellor – M. G University) was the Guest of Honour for the annual day programme for the senior school held on Nov. 15.

Jemima Ann Chacko of Grade XII B secured 1st prize, and Malaika Miriam Kurian of Grade XI B secured 2nd prize in the "Brilliant Minds" essay competition organized by Talks India. Talks India, a monthly lecture series held at KSP Menon Hall, Kottayam, brings together eminent speakers from India and abroad, offering students and the public an opportunity to engage with distinguished guests. The essay competition was inspired by Tushar Gandhi’s insightful talk on thinking differently, analytically, and critically,

The 12th Inter-school debate competition was conducted by Excelsior English School on 25th October 2024. There were two categories for the debate, the Junior category includes students of grades 8-10 and Senior category includes students of grades 11 & 12 . The topic for the debate for Senior category was Technological advancement is an invasion of one’s right to freedom and human autonomy. And for Junior Category it was Misinformation on social media is a bigger threat to democracy than foreign interference. 9 teams participated in the senior category, while 6 teams took part for the junior category. N. M. Joseph Neerackal ever rolling trophy was awarded to the Chinmaya Vidhyalaya in the senior category for the best team .Ever rolling trophy of N J Chacko Neroth was secured by Mar Baselious Public School who was the best team in the junior category. Malayalam essay writing competition for the Ever rolling trophy instituted by Dr. Monsi George and Ms. Elizabeth Monsi was awarded to Mar Baselios Public school. WhatsApp Image 2024-10-23 at 7.56.46 PM (2) — The Regional Youth Festival Bhavasutha under the banner Central Sahodaya Conclave, Kottayam was conducted on October 23 & 24 at The Baker Vidyapeedh Senior Secondary School, Kottayam. Our students performed in an exemplary manner bringing several accolades to the school. We have secured the over all 3rd position & the runner up position in categories 2 & 4. Mathew Binoy (category 4) was awarded Best Actor prize and Neriah Anna Rajesh (category 2) declared Kalathilakam of this category.

Book fair The DC books set up their stalls at Excelsior English School on 7th & 8th of October opening up a varied collection of books. The students were encouraged to buy books and add to their personal collection. The school also bought books to stock the library. This opportunity is given to students to encourage reading skills. Ms. Anna Vinay, Arya, and Maya Rose were the esteemed guests who graced the occasion and had the honor of inaugurating the book fair.

Grade XII Commerce students visited Ideal Coir tuft , KINFRA Industrial Park, Kunnamthanam on 4th October 2024 as a part of the Business Studies project. The major activity of this company is manufacturing of carpets and other floor coverings made of jute mesta and coir. This visit provided an insight into the process of production and packaging.The management was very cooperative and provided us with more information regarding the production process of coir mats, rubber mats and plastic products. It was an experiential as well as educational field visit for the students as the management gave an in-depth knowledge regarding the manufacturing and packaging process.They elaborated every minute step involved in the process.Conversations with the staff highlighted the importance of team work and the efficient application of the principles of management and their uses in promoting harmony and equity.

Field Trip Report: Study on Ornamental Fish Culture The students of Grade VII recently embarked on an educational field trip to the Tropical Institute of Ecological Science for an insightful session on ornamental fish culture. The session was conducted by Mr. C.K. Rajan, a retired Fisheries Deputy Director, who shared his extensive knowledge on the subject. The class covered a variety of topics including ornamental fishes, pisciculture, different types of goldfish, exotic species, and indigenous ornamental fishes. Students were also given a practical demonstration on how to properly care for these fish. The trip concluded with a special moment where each student was awarded a certificate of participation, along with a complementary glass fish bowl and a fighter fish to take home. This hands-on learning experience greatly enriched the students' understanding of aquatic life.

On October 4, 2024, Excelsior English School organized Social Service Day as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in the school. Students were educated on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and tidy. Grade VIII students volunteered to clean the school campus and donated plants to the school garden. The teaching and non-teaching staff cooked 20 kg of tapioca, serving it with green chili chutney to students and teachers. It was a truly memorable and rewarding experience for everyone.

Excelsior Students Gain Firsthand Legal Insights through Samvada On October 4th, 2024, the Grades XI and XII students of Excelsior English School had an eye-opening interaction at the District Court as part of the Samvada programme, organised by the District Legal Services Authority. This unique initiative gave us invaluable firsthand insights into the workings of the justice system, both within and beyond the courtroom. Witnessing live court proceedings, we observed justice in action—where words carry immense power and verdicts shape lives. Engaging in discussions with seasoned judges, we delved deeper into the intricacies of law and justice, gaining an understanding far beyond what textbooks can offer. This rare opportunity to interact directly with judicial authorities not only broadened our perspective on the legal system but also sparked potential future interests. The experience bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, making the complexities of law more relatable and tangible for us, as future citizens.

#Plant 4 Mother Campaign 27 July 2024 More than 80 students and their mothers from Prep 1 to Grade IV took part in this campaign with the help of 15 teachers. A sapling was planted at home collaboratively by student and the mother. The sapling planted was accompanied by a placard displaying the name of the student and the mother. A photo of the mother and child planting the sapling along with the placard was taken on Saturday morning ( 27/07/24). The photo was uploaded in the drive provided by the school on the same day 27 July 2024 . This is a Shiksha Saptah activity – an initiative by CBSE

National Reading Day – P.N. Panicker’s efforts are commemorated by the nation on June 19th as National Reading Day. Excelsior English School began its month-long reading campaign on the same day. Department of English organised a ‘Book and Author’ quiz for the students of grades 8 and 9. Following that a pencil drawing competition for the students of grades 9 and 10 was conducted. The entire school went into D.E.A.R mode for the last hour, with students, teachers, admin staff and support personnel all devoting their time for reading.

The Science department of Excelsior English School celebrated the World Environment day at school. The day began with a special assembly conducted by Grade XII A students.The students presented speeches, skits, and thought-provoking videos that focused on the theme of the year " Land restoration, desertification and draught resilience." and highlighted the significance of environmental preservation. They touched upon topics such as deforestation, water scarcity, air pollution, and the importance of biodiversity. A pledge was taken to upkeep the sanctity of the environment. The assembly successfully inspired and educated the students, promoting the significance of individual contributions to saving the environment. Utilizing old newspapers, craft supplies, and glue, students from Grade V to IX created eco-friendly alternatives to plastic bags. This activity aimed to address the issue of plastic pollution and promoted the use of sustainable alternatives. To add an element of creativity and to highlight the importance of recycling plastic, students in Grade IV were encouraged to create crafts using discarded plastic items.

Skill development is an important facet in today's education. Along with textbook knowledge one must be honed in some skill outside the textbook. The students choose the extracurricular activity of their choice. The activity mentors train the students right through the year. The various activities are dance, zumba, chess, roller skating, karate, yoga, abacus, basketball & digital painting. Each activity has its own specific skills that students need to inculcate. Dance helps to build confidence & eye, hand & leg coordination. Chess prepares one for decision making, problem solving, strategic planning & risk management. Each activity finetunes specific skills & students learn and master these skills.

The Science department of Excelsior English School celebrated National Science Day on 26 to 28 February 2024. The theme this year was Indigenous technologies for viksit Bharat. Science exhibition, SCISCAPE was organised for grades I to IV on Monday,26 February and for grades V to VIII on Tuesday, 27 February 2014. The exhibition was inaugurated by School Director Mr N J Mathew and was addressed by Principal Ms.Shirin Chandy.The exhibits were open for parents and students between 10 am and 12 noon. Ball Mill for crushing heavy metals like aluminium , Oxy hydrogen generator to produce energy from water, Taser gun that helps police to capture the suspect and the kinetic wheel were some remarkable exhibits. The highlight of the event was 'Dress up like a Scientist ' contest for grades 1 to VIII.It was great way to encourage curiosity and learning about different fields of science.

Assembly Grade Vi B - Theme : EDUCATION — This week’s Friday assembly was conducted by Grade 6B themed Education. The class tried to reiterate that education must help us to transform from mirrors to windows. Education is about strength of mind, intellect expanded and character formed. Children talked about famous personalities in the field of education and interesting facts on schools from all over the world. The girls danced to the song Aashayein from the movie Iqbal to encourage the desires in their heart to bloom as absolutely nothing is impossible.

On 17 February 2024 students of Excelsior English School from classes 5 to 8 visited the Poor Boys Home near Kanjikuzhi, Kottayam. This home provides shelter and support to orphaned children aged 10 - 17 years. The interaction between the students of Excelsior and the children at the Poor Boys Home optimized the spirit of solidarity and empathy. Through this exchange the students not only provided tangible support but also fostered a sense of inclusivity and compassion within the community.

The children of Grade II was taken to an enriching field trip to the Children’s Library and Park on 21 February 2024.The purpose of this outing was to introduce the young learners to the joys of reading, storytelling, and outdoor play, fostering their cognitive, social, and physical development. It was a day filled with learning and fun.

Innovation Day is commemorated on February 16 to recognize the role that new knowledge plays in making a country more advanced and powerful. The main idea behind this day is to appreciate the efforts of those inventors who are bringing innovation and change in the field of science and technology. The Innovation Club of Excelsior English School celebrated the day by hosting an exhibition. Students explained their models to visitors demonstrating their humongous potential.

Health awareness program — Renowned nephrologist of SH Medical Centre Kottayam Dr. Abraham Tharakan, delivered an enlightening speech on the importance of good health and well-being as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for students of grades 1 to 4. The event aimed to instill a sense of awareness and responsibility in young minds regarding their health and well-being. The speech included practical tips on cultivating healthy habits, such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, proper hygiene, sufficient sleep and mental well being. Dr. Abraham engaged the students by using age-appropriate examples and anecdotes to make the information relatable and easy to understand. The event served as a valuable contribution to fostering a generation that prioritizes health as an integral aspect of a fulfilling and successful life.
