Excelsior English School started the senior secondary wing in the year 2004. We offer a diverse choice of subjects that cater to student’s need. We have Science, Commerce and Humanities Stream with 21 different subject options.

Career choice and development are significant aspects which enables an individual to enter the professional field successfully. Taking the right decision at the right time is very important in one’s life. Choosing the right subject is relevant. Students are free to make suitable choices in the light of their needs, abilities, interest and personality characteristics. We provide activities/experiences to the students that help them to explore a life outside the school. Developing 21st century skills like Communication skills, Creativity, Collaborative skills and Problem solving skills are taken with utmost care.

Excelsior Senior Secondary wing has an effectual faculty team who are CBSE board examiners and committed to mentoring students to produce exemplary results for the board examinations.

A combination of normal science/ commerce/ humanities with skill based subjects would be an added advantage in future. We take you on a walk through of the special subjects we offer other than the traditional ones.

Entrepreneurship (066)

The course on entrepreneurship aims at instilling and stimulating human urge for excellence by realizing individual potential for generating and putting to use the inputs, relevant to social prosperity and thereby ensure decent means of living for every individual. Objectives: ∙ Acquiring Entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness ∙ Familiarization with various uses of human resource for earning dignified means of living ∙ Understanding the concept and process of entrepreneurship – its contribution in and role in the growth and development of individual and the nation ∙ Acquiring entrepreneurial quality, competency and motivation ∙ Learning the process and skills of creation and management of entrepreneurial venture

Fashion Studies (837)
Fashion studies is a subject which teaches students the fundamentals of fashion design. Being a vocational subject skills like creativity, sketching and drawing, sewing, knowledge of fashion trends are an advantage for students choosing it at the senior secondary level. The various career options in this field are, fashion illustrator, fashion merchandiser, fashion stylist, pattern cutter/grader, fashion stylist, fashion coordinator, textile designer, fashion consultant, retail manager, sketching assistant etc.
Home Science (064)
Home Science is a multidisciplinary subject and is a combination of art and science. Food science and Nutrition, Human development, Textile and clothing, Human resource management and Communication and extension are the branches which make up the syllabus of home science. It prepares the teenagers for self and wage employment as it equips them with skills such as embroidery and stitching, meal planning and cooking, food preservation, flower arrangement, budgeting and time management etc.

Informatics Practices (Code - 065)

Informatics Practices is a subject for CBSE Classes XI and XII. It is based on Python Programming Language which includes Basics of Python programming, Data Analysis (NumPy, Pandas), Data Visualization (Matplotlib), MySQL Database and Cyber Security Concepts.

Computer Science (Code - 083)

Computer Science is subject which can be taken by a student as his/her 5th subject in Classes XI and XII. This subject includes the Basics of Python Programming, File handling, Computer Network, Database Concepts and Cyber Security.

Both subjects have Python Programming in their syllabus, but both are different. While starting in Class 11 both start with Basics of Programming Concepts and Basics of Python Programming.

Shall I Choose Computer Science/Information Practices in Class 11?

You must read the following things before taking CS or IP:

  • Both subjects are based on Computer Programming. If you do not have any video about programming, search for computer programming before going for these subjects.
  • Both subjects are logical subjects and need a logical mind. Only learning and mugging up will not work.
  • These are fully practical subjects. You have numerous practical sessions.
    -Knowledge of basic mathematics is required for solving the questions related to these subjects.
  • Last and most important thing is that this is a compulsory subject, do not think of it as an additional subject.
Fine Arts (Painting) (049)

It is a subject that opens doors to a vast field of creativity and productivity which offer numerous opportunities where one can convert his/her passion into a blissful profession.

This discipline offers history of Indian art as theory for 30 marks. Painting in two subjects for 50 marks and another 20 marks is on the basis of the artist’s portfolio.

Some of the areas of exploration for a Visual artist:
Creative artist, Multimedia programmer, Drawing teacher, Set designer, Production artist, Creative director, Visual editor, Art director, 2d/3d artist, Animator…

Skillset required for higher education in fine arts:
sketching skill, drawing skill, visualisation skill, imaginative skills, presentation skill
and visual communication skill.

Psychology- the science concerned with behaviour, in both human and nonhuman animals-first appeared in the 1870s. Psychologists study the intersection of two critical relationships: one between brain function and behaviour, and another between the environment and behaviour. As scientists, Psychologists follow scientific methods, using careful observation, experimentation, and analysis. By studying Psychology, we can evolve new approaches from existing knowledge to meet the changing needs of people, organisations, and societies.

Careers in Psychology
Counselling – help people recognize their strengths and resources to cope up with everyday problems and serious adversity.

Educational Psychologists- concentrate on how effective teaching and learning takes place.

Forensic Psychologists- apply psychological principles to legal issues.
